Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Des Moines Property Watch collects, why it is collected, and what remains public by design.

Public-record data

Property information displayed by this project comes from public government records. Owner names, property addresses, parcel identifiers, values, classifications, and physical characteristics are published because they appear in the Polk County Assessor source data. The site does not claim that public availability eliminates every privacy concern; reports of possible errors can be submitted through the contact form.

Information you submit

The project stores the name, email address, organization, parcel number, and message you voluntarily submit. Newsletter signup stores the supplied email address. These records are used to respond, review corrections, maintain the update list, and operate the site. They are not sold.

AI assistant

Questions sent to the public assistant are processed by an AI model to generate a response. Do not submit confidential, health, financial-account, or other sensitive information. Assistant output is not written into the property database automatically and must be independently verified.

Payments

Stripe processes voluntary tips. This site does not receive or store complete card numbers, security codes, or card expiration dates. It stores only Stripe resource identifiers needed to reconcile completed checkout events; payment status and details remain in Stripe.

Analytics and technical data

Hosting analytics may record page views, approximate device or browser information, and technical request data needed for security and reliability. Authentication cookies are used only for the private administrator area.

Retention and choices

Messages are retained while needed for editorial review and project records. Newsletter subscribers may request removal through the contact form. Public government records cannot be removed from the county source by this project, although this site will correct its own inaccurate presentation.
